About Green Apple Transport, LLC

Yes, Green Apple Transport does not see being a new company as a negative.  We view it as a positive.  We have the opportunity to do things not only differently, but better.  Progress is made by the companies that will try new things to better serve their customers.  We see this as an opportunity to innovate in an old industry that is slow to modernize and adopt new technologies like GPS tracking and electric school buses.  We aim to be the Netflix, Space X or Tesla of the school bus industry.  Join us in creating a better future for pupil transportation at BxSci/HSAS and NYC as a whole.

No, but we have been working with industry leaders and have been part of the New York City school bus community for the past 5 years.  We have been advocating for more accountability, better treatment of school bus operators, and for the industry to quickly adopt electric school buses.

Please visit our advocacy website to learn more about what we have done to promote better busing and the electrification of the school bus industry.

Our main goals in starting a school bus company is to provide professional, safe, clean, reliable and affordable transportation, great customer service and to push the school bus industry to adopt electric school buses.

You can watch our parent presentation video or contact the PA to get the link to our presentation to the parents on May 4.

Our drivers are seasoned professionals with several years of experience in the industry.  They are up to date with all requisite certifications and training and have excellent driving records.  We mandate that our drivers receive COVID-19 vaccinations.

Yes!  Green Apple owns all of our school buses so that we have full control over our services.

Yes, Green Apple only uses school buses for pupil transport and they are not limited as to which streets they can use like other commercial vehicles like coach buses.

No, you do not have to pay to sign up for service.  You only have to fill out our contract and email or mail it to us.

But you do have to pay early to lock in our lower rates.

Yes, you can fill out your credit card information on our contract.  We are currently working with our bank to link credit card payments to our website.

No, there is no extra fee for credit card payments.

We hope to be adding Zelle and PayPal as payment options soon.  We have not decided on cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Etherium or Dogecoin at this time.

Price Reduction

Our prices were higher to compensate for CDC restrictions which required that our buses run at half capacity.  The easing of CDC restrictions, lower COVID-19 infection rates and the likelihood that schools will fully open in the fall will enable us to operate at a lower cost.  We are passing that savings on to our customers.

No, our price reduction will not mean a reduction in the quantity or quality of service.

None, we do not plan to raise our prices on the parents who choose us for the 2021/2022 academic year.  We believe we would owe it to the parents that take a chance on us and give us the opportunity to start our company.

Routing Information

Routes will be provided to families as soon as we know our customer base.  Rather than selecting random routes, we will customize the routes based on the locations of our customers. This helps ensure that bus stops will be close to where our customers live.

Green Apple can confirm our routes once we have at least 25 people in one area to serve.  At that point, we can assign a bus and make a route.

We aim to have all pick-up and drop-off locations no more two (2) blocks of a students home.

Yes, we plan to provide after school bus service.  However, we are waiting for information from the school as to what after school programming will be offered.  We aim to have an after-school bus for each release period. At a minimum, we will offer a 9th period bus and a late bus.

Covid-19 Safety Procedures

Yes!  We will follow the most stringent standards that apply to school buses. However, the Covid-19 policies and procedures from the CDC, NYS Department of Health and NYC Department of Health are always changing.   To see what the current directives are please visit the Agency’s websites below:

Center for Disease Control

New York State Department of Health

New York City Department of Education

The current Covid-19 safety protocols allow one child per bench seat or two children from the same household to sit together.  Our buses have a total capacity of 66 riders, so we will limit our buses to 33 passengers.

We will require our bus drivers to be fully vaccinated prior to the start of the school year.  Our drivers will also be required to wear a mask when others are on the bus and when cleaning the bus.  We will also do regular Covid-19 screening tests to make sure our drivers have not been infected or contagious.

Students will not be required to be vaccinated unless it is mandated by the Department of Education to attend school.  Students will be required to wear a mask (even if vaccinated) at all times on the bus, unless they have  a medical condition that exempts them from this policy.

The drivers will be required to wipe down the seats  of the bus with an antibacterial solution before each trip.  Each weekend, the buses will be fully disinfected.

Communication with Parents/Driver Monitoring

We will have a bus tracking app like Here Comes the Bus, which has alerts when the bus is close to your home and when your child gets on and off the bus.  We will also have a call center to answer questions.

We are looking to hire employees who speak multiple languages to talk to our customers in their preferred language.

Our buses will be outfitted with real-time GPS that tells us how the drivers are driving and gives us updates if they are driving poorly.
